Historical Fiction

Transcription

While Transcription was not the read I expected, it was a beautiful piece of literary fiction that was perhaps a more authentic spy novel than the usual action thriller.

The Nightingale

The writing lacked eloquence and heft, but the bonds of sisterhood and the depiction of the sacrifices citizens were willing to make to save others was well done.

The Pillars of the Earth

I was able to enjoy this book for what it is: an adventure story set in a vividly but not always accurately rendered medieval England.

Here Be Dragons

The story proves to be both a character drama and a study of the politics, culture, and society of medieval England and Wales.

Wolf Hall

Wolf Hall is an engaging glimpse into the life and mind of an intriguing man who had a hand in shaping history.
